The winning streak continues for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga. Die Roten’s 1-0 victory over Hertha Berlin on Friday was their  fifth consecutive win in the German top flight and the third clean sheet in their last four matches.

It took a complete effort for Bayern to achieve victory but they got the job done to maintain their healthy lead at the top of the table. Here are the top three performers from Friday’s victory. Courtesy of this victory, Die Roten opened up a lead of ten points at the top of the league table.

Manuel Neuer

Neuer’s seven saves were absolutely crucial in getting Bayern all three points against Hertha Berlin. The Bayern goalkeeper made a number of key saves including one just a few minutes into the match. Dodi Lukebakio’s third-minute effort was a golden opportunity for the hosts to grab an early lead but Neuer made a great kick save to deny the goal. Neuer denied Lukebakio again later in the first half when he saved his 45th-minute free-kick.

The usual sweeper-keeper style of play was on full display in this one. Neuer came close to registering an assist in the 45th minute when he came out to make a clearance and blasted the ball down the pitch to Robert Lewandowski whose header went wide. Overall, this was a great performance by Neuer as he inches closer to 200 career clean sheets in the Bundesliga.

More from Bayern Strikes

Kingsley Coman

Bayern’s lone goal scorer was Coman. The French winger scored his third goal of the season as he benefitted from a deflected shot in the 21st minute. Coman was a constant threat throughout his 85 minutes on the pitch. He would finish with a total of four shots which was the second most recorded by a Bayern player. When it came to distribution, Coman completed 86% of his passes and recorded two key passes.

With his goal, Coman now has a combined goal and assists a total of 12 in the Bundesliga this season. This is the highest combined total of his career and is a testament to the impact he’s had on the 2020/21 campaign so far.

Joshua Kimmich

Kimmich was given the role of being the lone defensive midfielder in the 4-1-4-1 formation. He performed very well for yet another match as his distribution was impeccable. The midfielder completed six of his seven long ball passes and completed 88% of all his pass attempts.

Additionally, he generated two key passes and drew the most fouls of any Bayern player. When Kimmich is at his best Bayern usually wins and Friday’s match was no exception. Hansi Flick will be hoping that the German midfielder will remain fit for the rest of the season.
