Corentin Tolisso found himself in trouble as Bayern Munich fined him for breaking coronavirus guidelines. The French defender was spotted in a video on social media platforms on Friday where he is getting a tattoo done without a mask on his face. This act was a clear breach of covid protocols put in place by DFL.

Hasan Salihamidzic and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge expressed their frustrations from this incident in the media on Saturday. Both of them confirmed that the situation has been handled internally and Tolisso has been fined for his actions. The fine will be donated to charitable causes. The Frenchman also apologized for his mistake on social media platforms.

As a consequence of this breach, Tolisso was not part of the squad that clinched 4-1 win against Hoffenheim on Saturday. The French midfielder has been spotted in the first-team training after missing the last couple of games due to a minor injury.

Tolisso will not have to undergo isolation if his tests come out negative. The German club will be disappointed by this incident as they have been impeccable in terms of the safety of players and followed every guideline of DFL to make sure that there is no outbreak at the club.

More from Bayern Strikes

Since Tolisso was also ruled out for the game against Hoffenheim, Hansi Flick decided to go with the pairing of Joshua Kimmich and Marc Roca. Both players did a fine job in the center of the park against a good opposition. Even if Tolisso was fit, he would have made an appearance from the bench since he had just recovered from a knock.

Bayern will need Tolisso to be fit in the coming weeks after Leon Goretzka and Javi Martinez were tested positive for coronavirus this week. The German Champions will also participate in the club world cup next week, so the French midfielder has a big role to play after being a rotational player for most of the campaign.

In terms of his long-term future at Bayern, Tolisso may have to find a new club in the summer. There have been no indications in the German media that he will be getting a new contract in Bavaria. Moreover, the constant links to Borussia Monchengladbach’s Florian Neuhaus suggest that the club will be parting ways with Tolisso in summer.

As of now, Tolisso will be playing enough games in the second half of the season. Die Roten will have a game every three days, so Flick is going to rely on the complete squad. The German manager will be hoping no other player will breach protocols to leave him short on options for the team.
