It has been whirlwind six months for Jamal Musiala at Bayern Munich. The talented youngster has made the big leap from the youth team to the senior team in a short space of time. He is firmly now a first-team player after impressing Hansi Flick on numerous occasions this season.
There has been constant debate surrounding Musiala’s future in international football. The youngster is eligible to play for England and Germany, so the Football Associations of both countries are working hard to convince the youngster to commit his allegiance to them.
Germany manager Joachim Low was in the stands during Bayern’s convincing 4-1 win against Hoffenheim on Saturday. After the game, Low told the media that he is planning to call up Musiala for the next round of international games in March. The youngster has a big decision to make in the next month or so regarding his international future.
Low’s comments suggest how eager DFB is to get Musiala on board. The talented teenager will provide more depth and cutting edge in the final third. It will take more effort from DFB to convince Musiala as he has already made an appearance for England’s U-21 team during the last international break in November.

England is also eager to keep Musiala in their ranks, so it will not be a surprise if Gareth Southgate decides to include him in the squad for the next round of international games. From Bayern’s perspective, it is good to see how highly Musiala is rated by Football Associations of the two biggest countries in Europe.
Musiala has a chance of breaking into the first team at Germany quicker than England. At the moment, Germany is a bit behind in producing good young talent than England. Musiala will have several senior attacking players in front of him in England to get a chance to cement a place in the main squad for the country.
The 17-year-old forward will also get to spend more time with Bayern players during the international break as many important German players are playing for the club. If Musiala continues to impress this season, then he might even end up in the German squad for summer’s European Championship.
Bayern is currently focussing on Musiala’s long term future at the club. They are currently in talks with the representatives of the teenager to negotiate a long-term deal. Musiala had arrived at the club in 2019 from Chelsea. In two years, he has grown at a rapid pace in the past two years, playing at the U-19 level to already scoring three goals for the first team.
