Loan transfers were always the priority for Bayern Munich during the winter transfer window. The German Champions were looking to sort loan moves for young players during the window. The future of few players that had unsuccessful loan spells during the first half of the season also needed addressing.
Sarpreet Singh had a tough time during the loan spell at Nurnberg. On Friday, Die Roten confirmed that the young attacking midfielder has returned to the club. It remains to be seen whether Bayern will keep him for the rest of the campaign or send him on loan to another club.
Singh got few opportunities with the first team last season after arriving at the club from Wellington Phoenix in 2019. The young midfielder went on a pre-season tour with the senior team and impressed Niko Kovac. He started training with the first team throughout the season.
Hansi Flick did give Singh a few opportunities in the Bundesliga. However, the club decided to arrange a loan move for him to get consistent playing time. The move to Nurnberg looked ideal on paper as Singh was set to get playing time in the German league, but his playing time was not ideal for his development.

Singh ended up making 11 appearances across all competitions for Nurnberg during the first half of the season. He failed to find the back of the net in these appearances. The Kiwi found himself on the bench consistently at the end of his loan spell, which is likely to be one of the key reasons for the termination of this transfer.
At the moment, Singh will find it very difficult to get playing time in the senior team. There are a lot of attacking players in front of him in the squad. If another loan move is not sorted before the deadline day, Singh is likely to be part of the reserves team for the second half of the season.
Along with Singh, Christian Fruchtl was also on loan at Nurnberg. The German goalkeeper also finds himself in a tricky situation. The young shot-stopper was loaned to Nurnberg for regular playing time, but he has ended up being a second-choice goalkeeper at the club. It remains to be seen whether Die Roten will recall Fruchtl back before the end of the season.
Bayern loanees had a difficult time this season at their secondary clubs. Adrian Fein has also struggled for playing time at PSV Eindhoven, while players at Nurnberg also struggled to get minutes on the pitch. The club will be hoping that the second half of the season is much better for these young players.
