Bayern Munich could revamp midfield department in summer
Bayern Munich could potentially change midfield options for next season.
Defense is likely to be the primary area to improve during the summer transfer window for Bayern Munich. Along with defense, Die Roten could also end up making numerous changes in the midfield department if the latest reports in Germany are true.
According to Sport1, Bayern is interested in signing Florian Neuhaus from Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer. The young German midfielder has been delivering consistent performances for Gladbach in the last two seasons.
SportBild has provided a further update on Bayern’s interest in Neuhaus. The 23-year-old midfielder has a release clause worth 40 million in his contract. Considering it is a fairly affordable fee for big clubs in Europe, Neuhaus could have numerous suitors in summer.
Neuhaus primarily operates in the defensive midfield role for Monchengladbach. He recently showcased his talent in the center of the park against Die Roten in the Bundesliga. The young midfielder conceded a cheap penalty but made up for it by scoring a delightful goal from the edge of the box. His superb positioning and awareness were seen when the team was seeing out the game to clinch a memorable victory.

The arrival of Neuhaus in summer could spell the end of Corentin Tolisso’s career at Bayern. The French midfielder is currently behind Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich in the pecking order. He would have surely left last summer if Thiago Alcantara had signed a new contract with the club. With Neuhaus potentially arriving at the club, Tolisso will have very limited opportunities.
Javi Martinez is also going to leave the club next summer. The Spaniard has not been offered a new deal by the club, so he is free to talk to interested clubs this month. Marc Roca will play a prominent role for Die Roten next season if the club remains patient with him. The Spaniard is currently going through the adaption period in Bavaria.
Mickael Cuisance is also likely to end up at another club next summer after leaving Bayern temporarily in the summer. Adrian Fein might join PSV Eindhoven permanently after the Dutch side inserted an option to buy in the loan deal last summer.
With plenty of midfielders potentially leaving next summer, it will not be a surprise if Die Roten decides to sign more than a midfielder. Neuhaus will be a fine addition, and he will take very little time to adapt after enjoying a good couple of seasons with Gladbach. A midfield mini-overhaul for Die Roten looks to be on the cards in summer.
