Gnabry is hungry to win more trophies with the current Bayern Munich squad.

Bayern Munich will be resuming the Champions League campaign next month with a round of 16 tie against Lazio. Before the CL game, the German Champions will also be playing in the Club World Cup as they have a chance to become a trophy-winning machine this season.

The CL title remains the utmost priority for the club such as Bayern. They dominated the competition from the word go last season, swatting aside every team they faced before the final against Paris Saint-Germain.

Die Roten will be looking to establish similar domination in Europe, but winning back-to-back titles is no mean feat. For years, no club managed to do it until Real Madrid did a three-peat in the second half of the last decade. The current squad has the quality to make history this season.

Along with fans, players are also hungry to enjoy continuous success rather than making last season an anomaly. While speaking to Daily Mail this week, Serge Gnabry admitted that he is hungry to achieve more CL title wins with the current squad at Bayern.

"“I think that’s a very, very good point. I also believe in this. We have a team at the moment that’s filled with so much talent, so much character, so much drive.”“Our aim is or will be to win the Champions League as many times as we can, whilst we are at that peak. Maybe like Barcelona or Real Madrid, who won it three times in a row. We want do the same things.”"

More from Bayern Strikes

Gnabry was a very important player for Die Roten during the CL run last season. He ended up scoring vital goals in the group stages and knockout rounds. The most memorable goal came against Lyon in the semi-final of the competition. His outstanding performances led to a promotion in kit number this season. He currently wears the number seven kit instead of last season’s number 22.

The German winger also admitted that last season’s success often felt hollow since fans were not in the stadium to celebrate with them. The knockout games from the second leg of the round of 16 stage were all played behind closed doors. Gnabry will be hoping that future CL wins will come in front of his family and fans.

After enjoying a remarkable campaign last season with Die Roten, Gnabry has not been at his best this year. He started the campaign on fire with a hattrick against Schalke in the first game week of the Bundesliga. Lately, goals and assists have dried for the German winger.

Gnabry will be hoping to soon rediscover his form and have a strong second half of the season. Bayern will need strong performances from him to make sure that they mount a credible title defense across all competitions.
