Bayern Munich: Leroy Sane scores much needed goal in matchday 14

Leroy Sane’s strike against Mainz made the Bundesliga’s top five goals from matchday 14.
A splendid strike from Bayern Munich forward Leroy Sane was named to the Bundesliga’s top five goals from the matchday 14 action. This is the second time this season Sane has appeared in the top five goals. His goal against Eintracht Frankfurt on matchday five was the top goal of the matchday.
Sane scored Die Roten’s second goal against Mainz in their 5-2 victory. His goal was part of a five-goal second half that saw Bayern overcome a two-goal deficit at halftime to register their 10th win of the Bundesliga season.
The result allows Bayern to remain in first place in the German top-flight entering matchday 15. Sane’s goal was ranked third out of the five goals selected. One of the goals Bayern conceded to Mainz appeared in the top five as Jonathan Burkardt’s opening goal of the match was ranked fifth.
The top goal of the week went to Bayer Leverkusen’s Nadiem Amiri who produced a top-class backheel goal against Eintracht Frankfurt. Amiri’s goal certainly has to be considered as one of the top goals so far in the 2020/21 Bundesliga season. Other goals included in the top five were from Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho and Freiburg’s Baptiste Santamaria.

A much-needed goal for Sane
Entering the match against Mainz, Sane had not scored a goal in the Bundesliga since matchday seven. His goal ended a scoring drought that had lasted six matchdays in the Bundesliga and it was his first goal in all competitions since the UEFA Champions League fixture against Red Bull Salzburg in November.
It was a much-needed goal for the winger who could be in for a strong finish to the season if he can continue to produce goals. He has endured a tough time in the new environment after a terrific start to the campaign.
With four goals scored so far in the Bundesliga, Sane still has the opportunity to set a new career-high in goals scored in a domestic campaign. His career-best occurred in the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons when he scored 10 goals for Manchester City in the Premier League. Sane currently ranks third for Bayern in goals scored in the Bundesliga this season.

Sane has what it takes to be a difference-maker for Bayern as he continues to adjust to his new club. This goal against Mainz was a key goal and it displayed the high-quality finishing ability he possesses when he has in top form. With 21 matchdays remaining in the Bundesliga for Bayern this season, there could be more fantastic goals to come from Sane.
