Bayern Munich full-back Alphonso Davies bags yet another individual award.
Alphonso Davies has enjoyed a phenomenal year at Bayern Munich. He has been the surprise package at the club since he ended up having a breakthrough campaign in the left-back position. The Canadian winger was also included in FIFA’s world team of the year.
Davies has been getting plaudits in Canada for a successful year with Die Roten. The 20-year-old full-back won the race Lionel Conacher award that is most commonly known as the player of the year award given by the Canadian press. The voters for this award are generally journalists, editors, and broadcasters in Canada.
Along with enjoying success on the pitch, Davies has been a big inspiration for young players due to his remarkable journey to success. He looks unfazed at the top level after taking a considerable amount of time to adapt to the new environment in Germany.
After a six-month adaption period, Davies was playing in the reserves to maintain fitness with few cameos here and there for the senior team. However, an injury crisis in the defensive department last year completely changed the fortunes of Davies.
