Bayern Munich should be looking to secure the future of Hansi Flick.
Bayern Munich fans were relieved when few weeks ago DFB announced that they would stick with Joachim Low until Euros. The German manager was under immense scrutiny after a heavy defeat against Spain in the UEFA Nations League. Hansi Flick was reported as one of the prime candidates to replace Low.
Germany has been largely poor since winning the World Cup in 2014. They endured a disastrous 2018 World Cup in Russia as Low’s men were knocked out in the group stages. Low has done a great job over the years, but underperformance in the last few years has probably raised the demand for change in the coaching setup.
Flick could be the ideal appointment since he is familiar with the setup at DFB. He had worked with the national team for many years before joining Bayern as an assistant coach in 2019. Since he has been extracting the best out of German players at Bayern, he could be the ideal fit for the national team.
From Bayern’s perspective, they have to make sure that Flick stays longer at the club. Speaking to Bild (via AZ) this week, Oliver Kahn made bullish claims about Flick staying in Bavaria a long time. Kahn insisted that Flick is yet to complete the development of the current squad.
"“Hansi Flick has a long-term contract.”“He is breaking one record after the other and is very satisfied. Hansi is not finished with the development of the team here.”"

It is a welcome sight that Kahn is dismissing those rumours. However, the club will send an even bigger signal by rewarding Flick with a new deal before the end of the season. His current deal expires in 2023.
The German manager ticks all boxes for a Bayern manager. In a very short time, he managed to induce confidence in the squad that was struggling under Niko Kovac at the start of last season. The Croatian manager had done a good job during his 18 months tenure, but the start of his second season saw a downward spiral in the development of the team. Flick made an instant impact and got the team playing high intense football in the Bundesliga.
Most importantly, Flick managed to bring the Champions League title back to Allianz Arena. The likes of Pep Guardiola and Carlo Ancelotti found it difficult to win the European trophy in Bavaria, but Flick managed to do it in his first season.
Along with winning trophies, Flick is loved by players in the dressing room. Multiple players had praised him publicly for his man-management skills last season. As of now, Flick is the ideal candidate for the head coach position at Bayern, so the club should make sure that they are in control of his future.
