Joshua Kimmich reveals the best moment of his career at Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich endured a difficult December in terms of results in the Bundesliga. They were being held for multiple draws, but the title rivals were not able to capitalize on their failures. In the final game of the year, Die Roten looked shaky until Joshua Kimmich came on to help them to clinch the victory.

The second half cameo in Leverkusen highlighted the importance of Kimmich in the current squad. The German midfielder is the heartbeat of the central midfield, helping the team to dominate the opposition by winning duels in the center of the park. He also has an eye for the killer pass in the final third.

At a very young age, Kimmich has established himself as an undisputed starter at Bayern Munich. He was included in the leadership group by Niko Kovac. The consistency in his performances and ability to take the game by the scruff of the neck makes him a leader on and off the pitch.

Kimmich has been successful with Bayern in the past few seasons. He has always been ambitious about winning trophies, but the German midfielder experienced the best moment of his career in 2020. In an interview with Bild (via Sport.de), Kimmich explained the feeling of clinching the CL title against Paris Saint-Germain in August.

"“I watched the entire game again. Sometimes I got goose bumps.”“The assist to Kingsley (in the CL final) ultimately led to the greatest triumph and title of my career. You can say it was my most important one. And it was the assist that made me emotional the most.”"

More from Bayern Strikes

Along with being a world-class midfielder, Kimmich is a quality right-back. He looked a long-term successor of Philipp Lahm at Bayern and the German National team after delivering two productive campaigns in that position. Despite getting the shouts of best right-back in Europe, Kimmich always wanted to play in the midfield on a long term basis.

The German international’s wish was granted last season. However, Benjamin Pavard suffered an injury just before the knockout rounds of the CL in August. Kimmich stepped up in this position and delivered flawless performances against some of the best teams in Europe.

Kimmich also admitted that the huge win against Barcelona in the quarter-finals was a big confidence booster for the squad. Flick’s men ruthlessly dismantled the Spanish side to record their biggest knockout win in the history of the competition.

The German midfielder has continued his good form from last season. However, his season came to a big halt when he suffered a serious injury in Der Klassiker last month. Kimmich worked hard during his rehabilitation and came back before the end of the year. Bayern will be hoping that he remains injury-free in Ruckrunde and help the club in reliving Champions League glory.
