The top three performers from Bayern Munich’s victory over Wolfsburg.
Bayern Munich are back to winning ways in the Bundesliga after they defeated Wolfsburg 2-1 on Wednesday. The hosts battled back after going down a goal early to claim their eighth victory of the 2020/21 Bundesliga campaign.
A goal before halftime and a second-half strike from Robert Lewandowski paved the way to all three points. It is the first win in the Bundesliga for Die Roten in two weeks. Here are the top three performers from Die Roten’s winning effort at the Allianz Arena.
Manuel Neuer
Bayern’s goalkeeper was influential late in this match as he made two massive saves in the 85th minute. He stopped an effort from Bartosz Bialek and then denied Wolfsburg from the ensuing corner kick.
Neuer finished with five saves in the match. This match was another example of his incredible ability to read and react to close-range efforts. The veteran goalkeeper has been a key reason why Bayern have not suffered a defeat since losing to Hoffenheim in September.

Robert Lewandowski
The striker continued his fantastic start to the season in the German top flight with a two-goal performance against Wolfsburg. This was his fifth multi-goal performance in all competitions and his goal total now stands at 15 in the current Bundesliga season.
Lewandowksi was a clear difference-maker in this match as Bayern struggled to finish their opportunities. However, the reliable Lewandowski showed composure and an eye for goal when the opportunities came his way. Without their star striker in the starting lineup, this match may have ended differently.
It’s important to note Lewandowski’s performance allowed him to surpass the 250 goal mark in the Bundesliga. He entered this fixture with 249 career goals in the German top flight and left with 251. It was fitting that Lewandowksi was the top performer from the match where he reached this career milestone. He now is just 18 goals away from surpassing Klaus Fischer for the second most goals all-time in the Bundesliga.
Kingsley Coman
The spectacular form Coman is currently showing continued against Wolfsburg. He set up Lewandowski’s first goal of the match and registered three key passes. Coman’s assist was his seventh of the Bundesliga season and he now has the most Bundesliga assists of his career in a single season at Bayern. Currently, the Bayern winger leads the league in assists. Wednesday’s performance was another reason why he has to be considered as one of the best wingers in the world so far in the 2020/21 season.
