The top five performers from Bayern Munich’s victory over Red Bull Salzburg.
Bayern Munich remained unbeaten in the UEFA Champions League group stage on Wednesday night at Allianz Arena. Die Roten defeated Red Bull Salzburg by a final score of 3-1 to top Group A and advance to the knockout rounds of the Champions League. Despite being outshot 19 to 11, Bayern were able to take advantage of their opportunities and record a 15th consecutive Champions League win. Here are the top five performers from the victory.
Manuel Neuer
Salzburg were very dangerous on the attack throughout the match. They were able to record 11 shots on target, however, only one shot found its way into the back of the net. Neuer played a massive role in holding Salzburg to just one goal.
The veteran goalkeeper recorded 10 saves and prevented Bayern from dropping points to the Austrian club. One of his best moments of the match was in the 70th minute when he made back-to-back saves from close range to deny Salzburg. There’s no question Neuer got the job done for Bayern in this one.
Kingsley Coman
Coman played an integral role in getting Bayern all three points against Salzburg. For the second consecutive match, the French international was on the scoresheet for Bayern. The winger scored the second goal of the match and registered an assist when he set up Leroy Sane’s goal in the 68th minute. He continues to be one of the offensive leaders for the club in the Champions League this season. In his four Champions League appearances in the group stage, Coman has three goals and two assists.

Robert Lewandowski
It was another stellar performance against Salzburg from Lewandowski. The striker registered two goals in the first meeting between the two clubs and he was on the scoresheet once more in the second meeting. With the goal on Wednesday, the Polish striker is now joint-third top scorer in CL with Raul Gonzalez on 71 goals.
After failing to score against Werder Bremen last weekend the goal was a welcome sign that the Polish striker is back to his goal-scoring ways following the November international break. Considering the busy schedule ahead before Christmas, Lewandowski will be hoping that he goes on a long goal-scoring run after finding the back of the net against RB Salzburg.
Leroy Sane
Just minutes after coming onto the pitch, Sane provided an instant impact as a second-half substitute. The winger headed home his second Champions League goal of the season to give Bayern a crucial third goal. Sane’s goal gives him five goals in nine appearances in all competitions since joining Bayern.
Leon Goretzka
The Bayern midfielder had a strong performance as he went the full 90 minutes against Salzburg. Goretzka registered an assist for the second consecutive match and completed 87% of his passes along with two key passes. Without Joshua Kimmich in the midfield, Goretzka has stepped up in the matches against Werder Bremen and Salzburg to provide assists.
