Bayern Munich wants to reward young German internationals
Bayern Munich is eager to open contract talks with key players of the squad.
The contract situation of David Alaba has been the talking point for Bayern Munich since the start of 2020. They also had to extend the contracts of Thomas Muller and Manuel Neuer, but they turned out to be straightforward negotiations. The German Champions also decided to secure the future of Alphonso Davies.
Bayern has been working on a new contract for Alaba but eventually decided to withdraw offers at the start of November. The German club has learned lessons from this scenario and they don’t want to find themselves in a similar situation.
According to SportBild, Bayern wants to open contract talks with Leon Goretzka. The German outlet insists that talks with Goretzka’s entourage are planned later this year. Gortekza currently has slightly less than two years left on his contract.
Similar to Goretzka, Joshua Kimmich and Niklas Sule are the other players that should be in line for new deals at Die Roten. Kimmich’s contract expires in 2023, while Sule will reach the end of his contract in 2022.

The German Champions would be seeing this trio as the spine of the team for years to come. All three players have the qualities of being leaders during the peak of their careers. Sule was ready to take up a leadership role in the defense last season, but he unfortunately suffered a serious knee injury that kept him out for ten months.
Goretzka and Kimmich played a big role in the treble-winning campaign. Kimmich excelled in the central midfield role throughout the season. In the latter stages of the Champions League, Kimmich filled in the right-back position in the absence of Benjamin Pavard. He is going to be the key midfielder for Die Roten for years to come.
Meanwhile, Goretzka added more strings to his bow by playing in multiple midfield positions under Flick. The German international keeps the play ticking in the center of the park and provides physical intensity to win duels against the opposition. Goretzka also has the habit of scoring goals consistently through well-timed runs in the box.
As things stand, Alaba looks certain to leave for nothing next summer. A proactive approach in contract negotiations with younger players will help the club to achieve short and long term goals. New deals for Goretzka and Sule before the end of the season will be welcome news for the club and fans.
