FC Bayern Munich: Robert Lewandowski leads Poland to victory
By Daniel Garza
FC Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski helped lift Poland to victory in the UEFA Nations League.
The October international break has finally ended. There were plenty of FC Bayern Munich players in action for their respective countries throughout the international break. Most of them delivered positive performances for their nation.
Robert Lewandowski enjoyed a good break with Poland. The Polish striker scored two goals and recorded one assist in Poland’s 3-0 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina. His two goals allowed him to reach fifth place in most international goals scored among active players.
Lewandowski entered the international break in fantastic form after scoring four goals against Hertha Berlin. He appears to have not lost any of his goal-scoring form in the past week based on his performance against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Poland benefited greatly from their results in the October UEFA Nations League fixtures. They are the surprise leaders of League A Group 1 heading into the final two matchdays. Lewandowski will have a big role to play in November when they face Italy and the Netherlands.
Gnabry’s fantastic finish
Serge Gnabry scored a crucial goal for Germany as they earned a point against Switzerland on Tuesday. With Germany trailing 3-2 in the second half, Gnabry produced a wonderful backheel finish, showing his immaculate awareness and class in the box. Overall, Gnabry was one of the top Bayern players for Germany during their slate of fixtures along with Leon Goretzka who scored against Ukraine.
Germany will be chasing League A Group 4 leaders Spain during the November international break. Spain leads the group by just one point and they will play the Germans on the final matchday of the Nations League group stage.
