FC Bayern Munich reveal their stance about Kingsley Coman’s future.

There is always constant speculation surrounding FC Bayern Munich players in summer. Every team would like to sign players from Die Roten as they are some of the best talents in the world. However, the German Champions always manage to keep their best players.

Thiago Alcantara did leave the club in the summer to join Liverpool. The Spaniard left Bavaria with the blessing of the German club since he wanted to enjoy a new adventure after excelling in Germany for seven years. Moreover, Bayern needed a transfer fee in the current climate as finances are stringent for the best clubs in Europe due to the pandemic.

Kingsley Coman was also heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer. The French winger was reportedly on the list of alternatives for the English club if they failed to land Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund. United eventually had to satisfy with Facundo Pellistri and Amad Diallo after failing to agree fee with BVB.

While speaking to SportBild (via Goal) this week, Hasan Salihamidzic addressed rumours linking Coman to United. He insisted that Coman remains an important player for the club, so they never thought about listening offers for him.

"“There was nothing, and we wouldn’t have looked into it either. ”“His goal in the Champions League final should explain enough why we are relying on him wholeheartedly.”"

More from Bayern Strikes

Hansi Flick has always insisted that he wants four wingers in the squad. With the arrival of Leroy Sane and the departure of Ivan Perisic, Die Roten still needed one more wide forward, so allowing Coman to leave the club in summer was never an option.

Since signing permanently from Juventus, Coman has endured mixed fortune in Bavaria. The French winger had terrible luck with injuries, spending months on the sidelines almost every season. During the 2019/20 campaign, he had much better luck with injuries and ended up playing 38 games across all competitions. The Frenchman contributed to 15 goals across all competition. Coman’s inconsistency has been a frustrating issue for Die Roten. He provides the cutting edge in the final third with his dribbling, but his crossing and final pass often let him and the team down. The French international was impressive in the final of the Champions League, but there is still scope for improvement in his game.

The arrival of Douglas Costa and Sane will provide Coman ample amount of competition in the starting XI. Healthy competition will further improve his game while going forward. Even if he doesn’t cement his place in the starting XI, Coman has enough qualities to be an important squad player for Die Roten. It will take an extraordinary offer to change Bayern’s mind about Coman in the near future.
