FC Bayern Munich need to improve bid to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi
FC Bayern Munich will have to better first bid to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi.
The final few days of the transfer window are always frantic. FC Bayern Munich also wants to improve their squad in the remaining two days of the summer window as they are close to completing the signing of Marc Roca from Espanyol. Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi is another player the German Champions wants to bring before the window shuts on Monday.
The latest update from England regarding Hudson-Odoi is not promising for Die Roten. According to The Guardian and Sky Sports, Chelsea have rejected FC Bayern Munich’s first offer for Hudson-Odoi. The English club has rejected a loan bid that had an option to buy in 2021 for £70 million.
Meanwhile, The Athletic (subscription needed) is reporting that Die Roten will come back with a second offer as they are determined to sign Hudson-Odoi. The English outlet is also reporting that Hudson-Odoi is not agitating for a move, and Frank Lampard is open to keeping him at the club. The young forward featured in the Premier League game against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Rekordmeister made multiple bids to sign Hudson-Odoi in January 2019. The player even went on to put a transfer request, but Chelsea stood firm and rejected all offers from the German club. Hudson-Odoi was ruled out for few months due to severe injury at the end of the 2018/19 season. The English side eventually secured his future by handing him a new long term deal.

Chelsea has been the biggest spenders in Europe this summer. They improved the attacking department by signing Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, and Hakim Ziyech. These arrivals have led to speculation surrounding the future of Hudson-Odoi. However, he has featured for Chelsea in the last four games, suggesting that Lampard is counting on him.
It will take a huge effort and offer from Rekordmeister to complete this transfer with less than 48 hours remaining in the transfer window. If Hudson-Odoi had agitated for a move, then Die Roten’s resolve to get him would have been stronger. It will be interesting to see whether Chelsea changes their mind if an obligation to buy option is inserted in this deal.
Flick spoke brightly about Hudson-Odoi in the pre-match conference for Sunday’s Bundesliga game against Hertha Berlin. The German manager has been insisting consistently that he wants four wingers in the squad. Considering the injury struggles of Kingsley Coman, it is necessary to have an additional option in that position.
Ivan Perisic was favourite to become that fourth winger after enjoying a decent spell in Bavaria last season. However, Die Roten couldn’t reach an agreement over the transfer fee with Inter Milan. At the moment, Hudson-Odoi seems to be the top candidate for this role, but Die Roten are facing a race against time to come up with a big offer that will change Chelsea’s mind.
