Bayern Munich will get competition from Italy for Norwich’s  Aarons.

After winning the Supercup against Sevilla last week, it has been a tough couple of days for Bayern Munich. The German Champions succumbed to a shock 4-1 defeat against Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga. Die Roten are also set to miss out on their top transfer target- Sergino Dest from Ajax.

As per Fabrizio Romano and De Telegraf’s Mike Verweij, the 19-year-old right-back has chosen to join Barcelona. The European Champions have been chasing Dest since January. Die Roten stepped up negotiations to sign the young right-back after parting ways with Thiago Alcantara, but Barcelona has beaten them by agreeing to personal terms and transfer fee with Ajax.

After facing disappointment in this transfer deal, Rekordmeister will have seven days to bring a right-back to the squad. The German club is likely to shift other alternatives in this position. Norwich City’s Max Aarons could be that player as Die Roten were heavily linked with him at the start of the transfer window.

However, Bayern is likely to face competition for young English full-back. According to RMC’s Loic Tanzi, AC Milan have held talks to sign Aarons from Norwich. La Gazzetta Sportiva ( via Milannews.it) also reported on the weekend that AC Milan is indeed interested in signing Aarons before the deadline day.

More from Bayern Strikes

Aarons was reportedly a transfer target for Barcelona too, but the signing of Dest will rule out the arrival of the English defender. Norwich is currently playing in the Championship, so Aarons is likely to be open to joining a top European club before the deadline day.

Die Roten is currently an exciting sporting project for young players. It will be fairly straightforward for the German club to convince Aarons to join the club. The tricky part will be agreeing to a fee with the English club. Norwich had reportedly rejected a bid worth £20 million from Barcelona, so the German Champions will have to come up with a better offer than that fee.

Similar to Dest, Aarons is also an attacking full-back. Norwich endured a dismal campaign in the Premier League last season, but Aarons was the shining light for the club. The English defender links up well with wide players and tends to make marauding runs in the final third. He will provide a cutting edge in the final third if he moves to Bavaria before October 5.

Apart from right-back, it remains to be seen whether Die Roten also signs a winger. Flick wants four options in that position. After the departure of Ivan Perisic, Flick currently has three senior wingers in Leroy Sane, Kingsley Coman, and Serge Gnabry. Incase the German club fails to sign another winger, Jamal Musiala may get more opportunities this season.
