Bayern Munich needs to move quickly to beat Barcelona for Sergino Dest.

The transfer window is heating up since there are only two weeks left for the deadline day. Bayern Munich generally doesn’t leave it late in the window, but circumstances are different this summer. The club has already completed three good transfers. Hansi Flick wants to add two more to the squad ahead of a challenging campaign.

A right-back is on the agenda for Rekordmeister as they want to bring in cover for Benjamin Pavard. With the departure of Thiago Alcantara, Joshua Kimmich is likely to be his long term replacement, so he is unlikely to play in the right-back position anytime soon. This situation with Kimmich forces the club to look for a right-back this summer.

Sergino Dest from Ajax has been the top target for the European Champions. Earlier this week, there were new developments as Die Roten stepped up negotiations with the Dutch club to complete the transfer. However, both clubs are still quite apart on the evaluation of the player.

Rekordmeister will have to move quickly since Barcelona is also interested in the player. According to renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Spanish club will step up their efforts to sign Dest after agreeing to a fee with Wolverhampton Rovers for the departure of Nelson Semedo. He also insists that the German Champions are confident about signing Dest.

More from Bayern Strikes

Bayern rarely loses out on their primary targets, so there could be some important updates over the pursuit of Dest soon. The teenage full-back reportedly prefers moving to Bavaria after publicly confirming the interest of Die Roten earlier this year.

Apart from Dest, Barcelona and Bayern were also keeping a close eye on Norwich defender Max Aarons. The Spanish club reportedly had bid rejected for the English defender, while Die Roten considers him as an option for the right-back position. The German Champions probably have Aarons as the second choice target incase the deal to bring Dest collapses.

Die Roten certainly wants a more attacking right-back due to their links to Dest and Aarons. Pavard is defensively astute, but he is not a threat in the final third, like Alphonso Davies on the other side of the pitch. The French defender still managed to come up with decent contribution in the final third last season, but he prefers playing in central defense.

Flick was eager to keep Perisic at the club, but the wage demands and transfer fee reportedly did put off Die Roten. The German manager will be hoping that the club will get the deal to bring Dest over the line. With Barcelona free to sign players after cashing in for few players, the next few days will be decisive for the transfer of Dest.
