How well Hansi Flick rotates during a congested campaign?

The 2020/21 season is going to be unique since it is starting one month late and ending at the usual time. There is going to be a lot of midweek games throughout the campaign to compensate for the time lost due to a late start.

Hansi Flick has stuck with a fixed starting XI throughout the second half of the last season. Since there was very little margin for error in different competitions, it was important to select the best team for every game. The advantages of consistent team selection are enormous, but the downside of it can also setback the team for a long time.

Considering games will come thick and fast, Flick will have to manage the squad perfectly. He cannot keep fringe players on the bench every game. The German manager will have to show more trust in players such as Mickael Cuisance, Lucas Hernandez, and Corentin Tolisso.

Keeping players fresh will also have an impact on the performance of the team on the pitch. Since Flick deploys a high-intensity pressing, the fitness of players will be vital for sustaining this style of football for the whole campaign. It will be interesting to see how Flick manages the squad in the upcoming campaign. The German manager is pressing for more transfers, which surely suggests that he will opt for heavy rotations in different competitions.
