Bayern Munich is set to part ways with Thiago after agreeing fee with Liverpool.

One transfer saga is finally going to end at Bayern Munich. The German club has been looking to raise money for further signings by selling players that are entering the final year of the contract. Die Roten are close to finalizing the departure of Thiago Alcantara.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool made contact with Bayern this week to complete the transfer of the Spanish midfielder. Bild’s Christian Falk has also confirmed that two clubs have agreed fee for Thiago, which is close to €30 million. In the press conference on Thursday, Hansi Flick also confirmed Thiago’s departure.

Thiago made a u-turn in May when he was close to agreeing to a new deal with Die Roten. The Spaniard rejected the contract offer at the last moment. Flick confirmed that the Spaniard wants to experience a new adventure in his career and tipped him to move to Premier League.

Arsenal and Manchester United were loosely linked with Thiago, but Liverpool was his first choice option from day one. He had reportedly agreed personal terms with the English Champions last month, but he squashed rumours regarding his departure during the international break.

More from Bayern Strikes

Thiago Alcantara is going to be a big miss for Die Roten. The Spain international was the heartbeat of the midfield last campaign, delivering big performances in the Champions League. His versatility in midfield was used effectively by Flick throughout the campaign.

Overall, Thiago’s time in Bavaria was successful. He managed to help the club in winning all possible trophies during his time at the club. The Spaniard was desperate to win the Champions League with Die Roten in the past few seasons. He eventually achieved that target last month when Rekordmiester defeated Paris Saint-Germain in Lisbon.

Thiago ends his career in Bavaria with 31 goals and 37 assists in 235 appearances across all competitions. He struggled with serious injuries at the start of his time with Die Roten but eventually became an important player for the club. From a financial perspective, Die Roten end up making a profit on Thiago Alcantara. The club has been linked with midfielders this summer, but it remains to be seen whether they will spend money from this deal in other areas. Nevertheless, Thiago will be sorely missed in Bavaria after giving some memorable moments in the past seven years.
