Thiago Alcantara dismisses rumours about bidding farewell at Bayern Munich.

After the end of the international break next week, transfer moves are likely to accelerate since the new season is just around the corner. Bayern Munich are also expecting to sign players depending on the departures of two senior midfielders.

Thiago Alcantara is going to be the high profile departure from Bavaria this summer. The Spaniard is destined to join a Premier League this summer since Hansi Flick admitted that he wants to experience a new adventure in his career.

The Spaniard was offered a new contract by Die Roten in May. Both parties were reportedly close to reaching an agreement, but the former Barcelona midfielder did a u-turn at the last moment. Rekordmeister are not going to let him run down his contract that expires in 2021. The club is expecting offers for him in the coming days.

Liverpool seems to be favourites to land the Spaniard. He has reportedly agreed to personal terms with the Premier League Champions. Speaking to media (via Kicker) on international duty, Thiago denied transfer rumours. The Spain international also insisted that he has not bid farewell to Bayern Munich, as the reports have suggested in German media.

"“I have not told anyone that I’m leaving. Every year, they put me in a different club. For me, my future is tomorrow’s game against Ukraine and there is nothing more to say. I neither care nor am I interested. What interests me is tomorrow.”"

More from Bayern Strikes

According to renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool could start negotiating with Bayern if Gini Wijnaldum moves to Barcelona. He also reiterated that Manchester United has held talks with Thiago’s agents, but yet to initiate talks with the German Champions.

The comments from Thiago cannot be taken at face value since his departure looks certain. The club hierarchy has consistently insisted that he wants a new challenge. The Spaniard would ideally like to link up with his new team for pre-season rather than return to Munich after international friendlies. Moreover, the Premier League is set to kick off next season, so a deal could happen quickly in the coming days.

The German Champions would also ideally like to sort this transfer one way or the other as soon as possible. It will allow them to assess midfield options in the market. They will be hoping that interest from Manchester United can help them in getting more than the price mentioned for Thiago.

Meanwhile, Javi Martinez is inching closer to a move to Athletic Bilbao. After Spanish reports, Sky Sports in Germany is also reporting that Martinez has agreed personal terms with the Spanish club. However, Die Roten are yet to receive an offer from Bilbao for the veteran midfielder.
