Good mix of wide players at Bayern Munich

Serge Gnabry — 8.5/10

At the end of the last campaign, Serge Gnabry vowed to take his game to the next level after winning the player of the year award in his debut season at Bayern. He fulfilled his promise and went on to enjoy the best year of his career that included a scintillating goal in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Gnabry ended the campaign with 23 goals and 12 assists across all competitions. The German international has become one of the most lethal wide players in Europe. His ability to play on either flank gives Flick tactical flexibility. The German is also clever with his pressing, helping the team to win the ball higher up the pitch. His four goals against Tottenham Hotspurs in London set the tone for Die Roten’s Champions League triumph. After showing considerable improvement in this campaign, Gnabry is going to get even better next season. (Stats courtesy: Whoscored)

Kingsley Coman — 7.5/10

It was another season filled with ups and downs for Kingsley Coman. The French winger continues to be brilliant and frustrating in the same game. He provides width on the left flank and stretches the defense with ease. Quick feet and trickery help him to get the better of most full-backs in Europe. However, his end product lets him and the team down. He continues to make wrong decisions consistently in the final third.

Along with inconsistency, injuries were another cause of concern for Coman last season. He missed 12 games due to different injuries. Coman finished the 2019/20 campaign with eight goals and seven assists across all competitions. With the arrival of Leroy Sane, Coman will be under pressure to improve his productivity in the final third to keep his place in the starting XI. Having said that, Coman will be fondly remembered by Bavarian faithful for the goal against Paris-Saint Germain in the CL final. (Stats courtesy: Transfermarkt)

Ivan Perisic — 7.5/10

Die Roten added two attacking players to the squad when a move for Sane didn’t materialize last summer. One player was Coutinho, while the other was Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan. The Croatian forward arrived at the club on a one-year loan deal. He proved to be a very smart signing from the German Champions.

More from Bayern Strikes

Perisic was unfortunate with a freak injury in training after the winter break. He was finding consistency in his performances at that point. In the first half of the campaign, he was in and out of the side. The veteran winger always provided an immense work rate in the final third. He can play on either flank and also can be deployed in the wingback role. Perisic also has the knack of delivering in big games, as he did in the knockout round of the Champions League in Lisbon. He is not the main man in the attack, but he can become an important squad player. No wonder why Die Roten wants him to sign permanently this summer.
