Bayern Munich boasts best midfield in the world- Player Grades
Thiago Alcantara — 9/10
It is a pity that Thiago Alcantara is parting ways with Bayern Munich this summer. The Spaniard enjoyed his best season in Bavarian colours while winning the treble. Thiago seamlessly adapted to different midfield roles under Hansi Flick.
The Spaniard was not first choice midfielder under Flick when he took over. After the winter break, he got the opportunity to partner Kimmich in the midfield. The German was sitting in front of the defense, while Thiago was operating as number eight. He was contributing in the final third, scoring four goals during this time.
In the Champions League, Thiago was the deeper midfielder due to his expansive passing range. He was switching the play effortlessly and playing through the press due to his immaculate close control. The Spaniard helped in dominating some of the best midfield setups during knockout rounds, including a masterclass against Paris-Saint Germain in the final. It was a world-class campaign from the Spaniard. He is going to be badly missed next campaign.

Javi Martinez — 6/10
In contrast to the campaign of his compatriot, Javi Martinez endured a very frustrating season. The veteran midfielder struggled to get regular playing. When there was a chance of getting consistent playing time, he suffered a serious injury. He managed only 10 starts across all competitions. The Spaniard is way behind in pecking order in the midfield and defense. Martinez is set to leave the club this summer. An underwhelming end to a glorious career in Bavarian colours.
