Bayern Munich has initiated negotiations with Inter Milan to sign  Perisic.

After celebrating last season, Bayern Munich wants to strengthen their hold in Germany and Europe by adding quality to the squad. The German Champions will be looking to sanction arrivals and departures in the coming weeks.

Ivan Perisic left the club on Tuesday after his one-year loan spell came to an end. He continues to remain in Die Roten’s thoughts for next season. Hansi Flick wants four wide players in the squad, so signing Perisic makes sense.

According to Sky Italy’s Gianluca Di Marzio, Bayern has made the first offer to sign Perisic permanently from Inter Milan. The Italian club has rejected the offer that was in the region of €12 million. It remains to be seen whether the German club will come back with an improved offer.

Die Roten had the option to make the transfer permanent for €20 million, but that option expired a couple of months ago. The Croatian winger heavily featured in the knockout rounds of the Champions League last month. Perisic came on in the 67th minute during Die Roten’s 1-0 win against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final.

More from Bayern Strikes

Perisic arrived in Bavaria after Die Roten failed to sign Leroy Sane from Manchester City last summer. The Croatian forward has made an impact from the bench for Die Roten. At the start of 2020, he was getting a run in the starting XI, but a freak injury in training left him on the sidelines for weeks.

Despite the frustration with the injury, Perisic had a productive campaign with Rekordmeister. He managed to contribute to 14 goals across all competitions. He scored in the vital games against Chelsea and Barcelona in the Champions League. The Croatian is likely to have the role of squad player at Bayern next season. (Stats courtesy: Whoscored)

Perisic is the type of winger that every manager would like to have in the squad. He is skillful and deceptively quick. Most importantly, his work ethic is incredible, helping him to play in the wing-back position too. The Croatian winger can also operate on both flanks, so it is a no brainer for Die Roten to sign him permanently.

The European champions currently have a good mix of wide players that can provide unpredictability in the final third due to their versatility. Perisic can add quality depth to this position for a fairly decent transfer fee. The next few days will be crucial to see whether Rekordmeister will improve their offer or look at other alternatives.
