Bayern Munich reportedly looking to bolster midfield by signing Inter Milan midfielder.
A long and unusual campaign came to an end on Sunday as Bayern Munich clinched a treble with a narrow 1-0 win against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final. The focus will now shift to the transfer market as Die Roten look to bolster the squad to defend their titles next season.
Midfield department is certainly going to be an area for improvement next season due to multiple departures this season. The reports in Italy suggest that Die Roten has identified the midfielder that will improve their squad next season.
According to Fcinternews.it, Bayern has contacted Inter Milan to explore a deal to sign Marcelo Brozovic. This report insists that Brozovic could be sold to raise funds for new arrivals by Inter despite being an important player for Antonio Conte last season.
Brozovic has been previously linked with a move to Bavaria. The Croatian midfielder is likely to be a direct replacement for Thiago Alcantara. The Spanish midfielder is on his way out from Bavaria after rejecting a new deal at the club. He has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool.

The Croatia international has largely played in the deeper role for Inter last season. He boasts a good passing range. Thiago has been deployed in a similar role under Hansi Flick, so interest in Brozovic makes sense. The Croatian will be 28 next season, so he also brings much-needed experience to the squad.
From a financial perspective, it will be interesting to see how much Die Roten will be looking to pay for Brozovic’s services. His contract is set to expire in 2022, so Inter will be looking to get a good fee this summer rather than leave it late next year when he will have only 12 months left on his contract.
Die Roten reportedly wants close to €30 million for Thiago, but Liverpool is not keen on paying that fee for a player that they could sign on a free transfer next summer. If Die Roten gets that fee for the Spaniard, then it is likely to be invested straightaway for a midfielder, and that could well be Brozovic.
Along with Brozovic, the European champions are also expected to negotiate with Inter for Ivan Perisic in the coming weeks. The Croatian winger had a decent loan spell in Bavaria, and the German club is eager to sign him permanently. However, the German champions are not ready to pay the fee which Inter wants for him. It is going to be interesting few weeks of negotiations between Inter and Die Roten if both these deals are to be concluded.
