Bayern Munich remain pessimistic about  Alcantara staying in Bavaria.

In the dying minutes of the game, Thiago Alcantara was nervous on the sidelines after getting substituted in the 86th minute. The Spaniard was in tears at the full-time whistle as this was his first CL title with Bayern Munich since joining them from Barcelona in 2013.

Thiago has been desperate to win the European trophy with the German club. And after achieving this feat, the Spaniard looks to be on his way out. The Spanish midfielder wants to experience a new adventure in his career as he enters the final years of his peak.

It will be a massive blow for the German champions since Thiago showed his class during the knockout games in the Champions League. The Spaniard is a Rolls Royce midfielder, smooth and lethal in any role in the center of the pitch. He helped Die Roten to dictate the tempo of the game and dominate some of the best midfielders in Europe.

Rekordmeister was eager to keep Thiago as they had agreed to the contractual terms put forward by his representative in May. However, he changed his mind at the last moment. Since then, the club has pessimistic about securing his future. Despite winning the treble, Die Roten remains resigned to losing Thiago, but Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told Bild that no club has yet approached them for the Spanish midfielder.

"“We have read a lot about Liverpool, but they haven’t contacted us yet.”“Yesterday, we had an event with our employees at Allianz Arena, and Thiago’s whole family were there. They walked around in great nostalgia, I would almost say. It looked very much like he had decided to say goodbye.”"

More from Bayern Strikes

Thiago reportedly wants to go to England and play for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side. The Premier League Champions have reportedly agreed to personal terms with the player, but they are not eager to pay the fee demanded by Die Roten. The treble winners reportedly want €30 million for the 29-year-old midfielder.

Apart from Liverpool, Arsenal was also linked with a move for Thiago this week. However, the fee demanded by Bayern remains an obstacle for the North London club. Rekordmeister is unlikely to give any discount for the Spanish midfielder after his impressive performances in the Champions League.

Die Roten currently have no midfielder in the squad that has a similar profile of Thiago. Joshua Kimmich has been excellent in the midfield, but he doesn’t have the guile as the Spanish midfielder. Considering the effects of the pandemic on the finances of Die Roten, the club is unlikely to spend heavily to replace Thiago this summer.

Next. Cuisance will be important for Bayern Munich next season. dark

To be honest, Rekordmeister should take a gamble and allow Thiago to run down his contract. They don’t have to accept a cut-price deal for him. The treble winners have a chance to mount a proper title defense in Europe, so keeping Thiago to achieve that target will be worth it.
