Robert Lewandowski won the Golden Boot in every competition he played in during the 2019-20 season.

Bayern Munich completed an incredible treble during the 2019-20 season. The German club captured the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and UEFA Champions League titles. These successes were influenced by the impact Robert Lewandowski had throughout the season.

With 55 goals scored during the 2019-20 season, Lewandowski managed to claim the top goal scorer spot in all three of these competitions. This was an incredible accomplishment that further proves he is currently the best striker in the world.

Bundesliga Golden Boot

Lewandowski set an incredible pace in the German domestic league as he was being challenged by RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner. In the end, his 34 goals in 31 Bundesliga matches allowed him to win the Golden Boot comfortably.

He was the definition of consistency during the season. Lewandowski scored a goal in every single one of Bayern’s first 11 matches of the season to start the 2019-20 campaign in commanding fashion. The Polish striker would go on to score in 25 of the 31 matches he played in during the domestic season. If he had not missed three matches during the Bundesliga season, one has to wonder if he would have had a chance of reaching Gerd Muller’s single-season record of 40 goals.

More from Bayern Strikes

DFB-Pokal

Bayern’s domestic cup success was once again impacted by Lewandowski. His six goals during the cup competition allowed him to finish as the top scorer. He produced two key multi-goal performances during the DFB-Pokal against Hoffenheim and then in the final against Bayer Leverkusen.

Lewandowski has been a force to be reckoned with during recent editions of the DFB-Pokal, he has scored five goals or more in the competition in the last four seasons. The 2019-20 DFB-Pokal was another example of how dominant Lewandowski has been in this competition over the years.

Champions League

His first ever Champions League title run featured one of the most impressive season performances of his career. Lewandowski managed to score in every single match he played in except the final match.

His 15 goals allowed him to capture the Golden Boot and record one of the best individual performances in Champions League history. He tied with Cristiano Ronaldo for the third most goals scored in a single Champions League season. This is even more impressive when the fact the quarterfinals and semifinals were single-elimination matches and not two-leg fixtures.

To further add to his accolades in the Champions Leauge, he finished as the joint assist leader with Paris Saint-Germain’s Angel Di Maria. Lewandowski has not been known to be an assist leader in his career but he was able to be a producer of goals as well during the Champions League season.

All-in-all, the Champions League season for Lewandowski will go down as one of the best individual performances in recent history. He was a dominant player in European football and set himself apart as the most impactful player of the 2019-20 season, not only in Europe but in the entire world.
