Bayern Munich should try to sign Ivan Perisic permanently from Inter Milan.
Hansi Flick made an interesting team selection during the 8-2 hammering of Barcelona last week. The German manager decided to stick with Ivan Perisic in the lineup ahead of Kingsley Coman. Bayern Munich were rewarded for this selection as the Croatian scored the important second goal in the game.
Perisic was impressive on the left flank throughout his stay on the pitch. He was stretching Barcelona’s defense, creating space for other forwards to exploit. The Croatian winger also had more chances to score as he took up promising positions in the final third.
The 32-year-old winger might force Die Roten to pursue his permanent signing after delivering promising performances in the last fortnight. According to SportBild (via Bulinews), Flick is eager to keep Perisic at the club as he wants to have four options in wide areas. The German champions could start negotiations with Inter Milan once the Champions League campaign is concluded.
Perisic arrived in Bavaria last summer on a year loan deal after the club couldn’t complete the transfer of Leroy Sane. It has been a frustrating campaign for Perisic as he had to cope with a serious injury at the start of 2020.

Despite a spell on sidelines, Perisic’s numbers are impressive for Die Roten. He has featured in 33 games across all competitions, contributing to 14 goals in these appearances. The majority of his appearances have come from the bench. He is likely to get a similar type of playing time if he stays at the club next season. A similar output in the final third next year would be a bonus. (Stats courtesy: Whoscored)
Moreover, Perisic is flexible forward. He can operate on both flanks. Perisic can also help Die Roten to play a different system since he can do a fairly good job in the wing-back position. The Croatia international’s work ethic is second to none, and he has a good knack of scoring goals in big games. Perisic is the type of player that every coach will love to have in the squad.
Die Roten has expired the option of signing Perisic from Inter for a fixed fee that two clubs had negotiated a year ago. Due to the pandemic, the German champions would like to get Perisic on a discounted fee, but it remains to be seen whether Inter Milan will be open to doing such type of deal.
Signing Perisic for a decent fee will be a smart move for Bayern. Since the squad already has some talented young winger, someone like Perisic will provide much-needed experience. Moreover, he will be a tactically flexible player, providing Flick with another strong option in tricky games.
