Bayern Munich midfielder Javi Martinez is reportedly a transfer target for Fiorentina.
It has been a terrific week for Bayern Munich as they booked a place in the semi-finals of the Champions League with a humungous 8-2 win over Barcelona. The German champions are set to face Lyon next week. Hansi Flick’s men will complete the treble by winning the Champions League title.
There are new stars in the current squad that is looking to win their first treble. Along with young stars, senior players are also present that experienced treble win in 2013. Javi Martinez was the mainstay in that treble-winning team, but he currently finds himself on the periphery of the squad.
The Spanish midfielder is set to be on his way out of Munich in summer after enjoying success over the last eight seasons. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Fiorentina wants to sign Martinez this summer. As per this report, the Italian club has already enquired about the Spanish midfielder.
Martinez has struggled with playing time this season. He suffered a serious injury in December that kept him out for more than three months. Moreover, there were many players ahead of him in the pecking order in both defense and midfield. With his contract set to expire in 2021, Die Roten will be looking to cash in for him this summer.

In Spain, Athletic Bilbao has been interested in bringing Martinez back to the club. Meanwhile, Rennes has recently shown interest in the Spaniard. He admitted a few months ago about keeping all options open regarding his future. Going by the reports, Martinez will have a plethora of options for his next club.
Martinez has been an important player for Rekordmeister over the years. He played in midfield and defense, providing the grit and steel to the team. The Spaniard was also technically gifted player as his passing was accurate. Die Roten made him their record transfer in 2012. He has done more than enough to justify that transfer fee.
The Spaniard didn’t get on the pitch against Barcelona despite five substitutes rule. Such is the quality of depth in the current squad. He will be hoping to get few minutes here and there in the possible next two games. Finishing with another CL and treble will mean that Martinez will come full circle in his time at Bayern.
