Bayern Munich: Jann-Fiete Arp suffers injury in training
Bayern Munich forward Jann-Fiete Arp suffers injury in training at Sabner Strasse.
When it rains, it pours. This proverb fits perfectly for the situation of Jann-Fiete Arp at Bayern Munich. The German forward is currently in Germany while his teammates are in Portugal preparing for a semi-final against Barcelona.
Arp has failed to make an impression on Hansi Flick, so he has been in the reserves team in the second half of the season. He has been training with new arrivals with Miroslav Klose at Sabner Strasse. As if there were enough things not going his way, Arp suffered an injury in training this week.
According to Bild, Arp suffered a knee injury in training. The German outlet later confirmed that injury is not serious, and it is a strain rather than ligament damage. This report also insists that Arp should be out for a week before resuming training with the group.
Arp endured a disappointing debut campaign in Bavaria after finally completing the transfer from Hamburg last summer. He was adamant about not leaving on loan after going on the pre-season tour with the senior team. The German forward was eager to learn from world-class players in training.

However, things started going downhill for Arp when the new campaign started. He struggled to get minutes on the pitch at the start of the season. Amidst lack of playing time, he also suffered injuries that kept him out for a long time on sidelines.
After Kovac’s departure, Arp still struggled to break into the first team. Hansi Flick decided to stick with Joshua Zirkzee in the first team rather than Arp. He eventually got match rhythm in the reserves team, but chances under Flick couldn’t come sooner as the German gave first-team debuts to few youngsters at the end of the season.
Arp is unlikely to be part of Flick’s plans for next season as the club added Leroy Sane to the squad. He will have to depend on minutes in the reserves team to keep himself fit. A loan move would be the perfect solution for young forward to get his development back on the track. However, the murmurs in the German media suggest that he remains determined to stay at the club.
Die Roten also needs to find a way to get the better out of Arp. They don’t want another Renato Sanches story where they couldn’t get the best out of a talented player. The German club should find a good loan move for Arp next season to polish the rough edges of his game.
