Bayern Munich interested in signing Norwich defender
Bayern Munich is interested in signing Max Aarons from Norwich City.
Last weekend has again shown that Bayern Munich needs one more addition to complete the defensive overhaul. The injury to Benjamin Pavard on Sunday has made the task of winning the Champions League a bit trickier. It further highlighted the club’s stance of signing a right-back in summer.
According to Sky Sports, Die Roten are interested in signing Max Aarons to provide quality depth in the right-back position. This report also insists that Norwich could sell him for €20 million considering the Premier League club were relegated this season. The German media outlet also reports Bayer Leverkusen’s interest in the English defender, but he would favour a move to Bavaria if the interest materializes.
Aarons is one of the bright spots for Norwich in a dismal season. The English defender has consistently featured in the starting XI and delivered impressive performances throughout the campaign. Considering the way he has performed this season at such a young age, the future looks bright for Aarons.
Die Roten has played Benjamin Pavard in the right-back position throughout the campaign. The French defender prefers playing in central defence, but Joshua Kimmich was permanently moved in midfield, opening up a vacancy in the defence.

Pavard has done fairly well, but he hardly got any rest throughout the campaign. Flick decided to bolster this position in January, paving the way for Alvaro Odriozola on a six-month loan deal from Real Madrid. However, the Spaniard struggled to get playing time under Flick, getting only two starts in the Bundesliga.
Aarons will need some time to get used to Bundesliga, so Flick can slowly integrate him in the starting lineup. The English defender could provide more impetus in the final third due to his pace and good ball-carrying ability, providing a different profile of right-back option compared to Pavard.
Financially, this move also makes sense for Die Roten. The club has ruled out making big money signings this summer due to the coronavirus pandemic. Aarons will not be expensive since Norwich are not exactly in a stronger position to negotiate a big fee. It is a low risk, high rewards type of signing.
Die Roten has also been heavily linked with Ajax defender Sergino Dest. The teenager confirmed interest from the German club, but there have been very few reports lately suggesting that Rekordmeister will make a concrete approach. Either Dest or Aarons will be perfect signing to add quality in the right-back position this summer.
