Bayern Munich is reportedly not going to sign Ivan Perisic permanently.
Leroy Sane was all smiles during his first press conference as Bayern Munich player on Thursday. The German winger finally sealed a move to Bavaria earlier this month after being heavily linked with the club for more than 18 months. The arrival of Sane may end Ivan Perisic‘s time at the club.
According to Fussballtransfers, Die Roten has no interest in making Perisic’s move permanent this summer. The Croatian had arrived in Bavaria on one year spell along with Philippe Coutinho when the club failed to complete a deal for Sane. Both players will be returning to their parent clubs after a successful year in Germany.
This report insists that Perisic is unlikely to stay at Inter Milan next season even if Die Roten doesn’t take up their option. The Croatian winger might be involved in a swap deal with Manchester United allowing Alexis Sanchez to stay in Milan.
Perisic will be part of the squad that will be playing Champions League games next month. The Croatian was sidelined for more than two months after suffering an injury in February. The lockdown allowed him to recover completely and get some minutes under his belt during the final leg of the Bundesliga.

The former Borussia Dortmund winger managed to score six goals and set up six other across all competitions. He was used sporadically during the first half of the season. After the winter break, he had returned strongly, featuring regularly in the starting XI. However, an unfortunate training ground injury halted this momentum. (Stats courtesy: Whoscored)
Perisic would have been a good squad member for next season. He can play in multiple positions including wingback position, allowing Hansi Flick to be flexible with his formations. The transfer fee and wages could be the issue that may have forced Die Roten to not make the Croatian’s move permanent in summer.
With Sane, Serge Gnabry, and Kingsley Coman, Rekordmeister has very good options in wide areas. Moreover, Thomas Muller can also play on the flanks if needed. Four solid senior options allow Die Roten to have a potent attack to compete on all fronts next season.
Flick has shown this campaign that he will trust in young players if senior players are out due to injuries. The departure of Perisic will open the pathway to more minutes in the first team for Joshua Zirkzee and Sarpreet Singh. Jann-Fiete Arp– the forgotten man, can also get a lifeline in the first team. Perisic did a fine job this season, but the club’s stance to not sign him is completely justified.
