Bayern Munich reportedly wants to sign a midfielder in summer.

If the summer window shuts down tomorrow, Bayern Munich fans will be pleased with the business done by the club. However, Die Roten is not ready to stop with three signings despite ruling out big money arrivals in summer.

According to Kicker, Rekordmeister is looking to bolster their midfield options for next season. This report insists that a midfielder will arrive at the club irrespective of what happens with Thiago Alcantara. The Spanish midfielder has rejected a contract offer in summer as he wants to experience a new adventure.

This report further reiterates the fact that Thiago will be allowed to leave the club after the Champions League is concluded. Die Roten is hoping to get a fee in the region of €30-40 million. The German club has made it clear that Thiago will not be allowed to run down his contract and leave for nothing next summer.

Thiago is not the only midfielder that could leave this summer. Javi Martinez is also certain to bring curtains on his eight-year stay at the club as a move back to Athletic Bilbao is on the cards. Corentin Tolisso has been out of favour under Hansi Flick. Inter Milan is reportedly looking to sign in summer.

More from Bayern Strikes

If all three midfielders leave, then Die Roten will be lightweight in midfield. Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka will become the first choice midfield duo, while the likes of Mickael Cuisance and Adrian Fein will act as cover for the duo. Another midfield addition may provide them much more assurance since injury crisis is normality for Rekordmeister every season.

Die Roten has been linked with a couple of midfielders in the past few weeks. Tottenham Hotspurs midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has been tipped as one of the candidates for this position. The Frenchman would provide something different to all midfielders at Die Roten that are likely to stay at the club next season.

Bayern may even look for loan signings if they wanted to add numbers to the squad in this department. They have managed to do that in the last few seasons by temporarily filling the positions by getting top players on loan. Another way of filling this position is by getting another young midfielder such as Cuisance.

Meanwhile, Robert Lewandowski suffered a massive setback in his bid to win Ballon d’Or. The prestigious award has been cancelled this year due to coronavirus pandemic. The Polish forward was favourite to win the reward as he is currently the top scorer in Europe.
