Setting up cooperation with a European club for reserves players

All young players are not going to get chances at Bayern next season. Lukas Mai has stagnated since making the first-team debut under Jupp Heynckes two years ago. Die Roten wants to keep a competitive reserves side, but some players are too good to play at that level after a certain time.

Since breaking into the first team at Bayern is difficult, so the club needs to set up a cooperation with one of the second tier or even third-tier club in Europe to give a taste of senior footballing action for these young players. There were reports suggesting that PSV Eindhoven could be that club, but nothing has materialized.

Some young players make an instant breakthrough while some are late bloomers. For the latter, there needs to be the right plan set up by the club to help them in their development. Chelsea has benefitted by having cooperation with Vitesse. The English club is currently reaping the rewards of a solid loan system.

Renato Sanches suffered the brunt after a poor loan move. Die Roten will be hoping that a similar situation doesn’t arise in the future. Cooperation with other club for loan moves will be the first step in the right direction for Bayern to start getting young players first-team minutes at the top level and prepare them for a possible future role for the club’s senior team. This approach will not only help them next season but have a much bigger impact on their long term future.
