More responsibility for academy graduates in Bayern Munich squad

One of the brightest aspects of Flick’s tenure has been the faith he has shown in young players from the academy. Joshua Zirkzee has benefited the most from this bold approach from the German manager. The Dutch striker has delivered whenever the team needed a big impact from the bench.

Die Roten’s last great team that went on to win historic treble had many players from the academy in the first-team squad. At the moment, David Alaba and Thomas Muller are only players left from that group. It is time for Bayern to slowly integrate talented players into the first team.

Zirkzee has played sporadically this season, but he has been included in the matchday squad consistently. The next step for Flick should be to give Zirkzee more responsibility to continue his development. Lewandowski will turn 32 next year, so Zirkzee should be given more opportunities to become an integral part of the squad.

Adrian Fein is also set to return to Bavaria after a successful loan spell at Hamburg. The teenager should also be getting an opportunity in midfield since Corentin Tolisso looks likely to leave the club. Giving more responsibility to youth players from the academy will further strengthen the squad and allow the team to compete on all fronts.
