Robert Lewandowski – the goal machine for Bayern Munich

Bayern stood firm at the end of the 2017/18 season regarding the future of Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker was eager to leave the club, but Die Roten had no plans to listen to offers for their talisman. He stayed at the club and scored 40 goals in 47 appearances during Kovac’s debut season in Bavaria.

Lewandowski insisted that he is completely settled at the club and committed his long-term future to the club at the start of the 2019/20 campaign. With everything settled about his future, Lewandowski has enjoyed the best season of his career, scoring a whopping 47 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions.

The Polish international has 33 goals to his name in the Bundesliga this season. Even when the team was struggling in the initial two months of the campaign, Lewandowski was coming up with goals to get them over the line. His contribution during Hinrunde helped Die Roten to be in touching distance with RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund in the table.

Along with coming up with goals, Lewandowski is working even harder for the team. He drops back to defend when the team is under pressure. His linkup play with forwards has got better, helping him to create more chances in the final third. Lewandowski is often criticised for his performances in big games, but he has come up clutch for the team in such games this year. He has been the goal machine that has propelled Die Roten to an eighth successive league title.
