FWD, Thomas Muller — 7/10

Muller started on the right flank since Flick went with a three-man midfield with Cuisance acting as the number ten in this formation. In the absence of Neuer, he captained the side. The German forward was wasteful against Freiburg, but he was the creative spark in the final third. He continued to deliver dangerous crosses in the box, but they were not converted in this game. Muller combined well with Lewandowski to create the goal for Kimmich.

FWD, Sarpreet Singh — 7/10

First start for Sarpreet Singh for Bayern Munich on Saturday. The Kiwi winger didn’t get a goal or assist, but he was able to show qualities that had Niko Kovac raving about it during the pre-season tour. Singh was lively in the final third, and his dribbling was causing all sorts of problems to Freiburg. His decision making was on point as he knew when to take his man to the byline or square the pass early into the box. A promising performance in the teenager, which he could have rounded off with a goal when Muller had set him up for a volley in the box, but his shot was way over the goal.
