Alphonso Davies- Bayern Munich’s tormentor in the left-back position

Alphonso Davies picked up from where he left before the break. The Canadian winger has shown further improvement in the left-back during the four games. Davies has effectively cemented a position in the starting XI with consistent performances.

At Berlin, Davies was providing an outlet from the left flank while going forward. However, it was his defending that was much more impressive in this game. Union Berlin threatened on the counter, but Davies was alert while defending and kept the hosts quiet on the left flank.

In the next game against Eintracht Frankfurt, Davies was at his best in the final third. He pressed aggressively to win the ball higher up the pitch and claimed an assist by floating a super cross for Thomas Muller. His perseverance in the final third was rewarded when he won the ball in Frankfurt’s box to score a goal.

More from Bayern Strikes

Davies showed great discipline while defending against Borussia Dortmund to keep Achraf Hakimi quiet. He linked up well with Serge Gnabry on the left-flank effectively. On Saturday, the Canadian winger created havoc in the final third against Fortuna Dusseldorf, scoring his third league goal of the season.

The teenager is going from strength to strength, showing great growth. Davies is improving his end product, making him an even more dangerous full-back. He uses his lighting pace to make some great recovery challenges. Even if the team is struggling, Davies just never gives up and continues to work hard on the left flank.
