Team News for Bayern Munich

Bayern suffered a massive injury blow ahead of Der Klassiker. Flick confirmed in Monday’s press conference that Thiago Alcantara would miss the game against Dortmund. The Spanish midfielder has been struggling with adductor problems, missing the game against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.

Apart from Thiago, Serge Gnabry had also missed a couple of training sessions last week. However, the German forward was fit enough to be included in the matchday squad against Frankfurt. Gnabry did get some playing time on Saturday, so he is likely to be fit for the game against Dortmund.

Jerome Boateng was substituted early in the second half on Saturday due to a minor know. Flick insisted that the German defender is fit to play tomorrow. Boateng has established himself as a first-choice central defender under Flick.

Javi Martinez made it to the squad on Saturday, but he didn’t get playing time. The Spaniard has completed the recovery process, so it is just a matter of time before he returns on the pitch. Niklas Sule and Philippe Coutinho continue to work hard on the pitch to return to action, but Tuesday will be too soon for them. Corentin Tolisso is the only long term absentee for Bavarians.
