Bayern Munich right to secure future of Manuel Neuer
Bayern Munich is on the right track of building a strong squad as they secure the future of Manuel Neuer.
The squad building process at Bayern Munich took a massive step in the right direction as Manuel Neuer is set to sign a new deal. The club announced that terms have agreed between all parties. Neuer is set to stay at the club at least until 2023.
Neuer is not getting younger, but this is still a shrewd move from Die Roten that helps them to achieve success in the present and future. However, the new deal for Neuer allows Alexander Nubel to grow at the club without a lot of pressure.
There was growing speculation surrounding Neuer’s future since the club confirmed the signing of Nubel in January. Neuer was even linked with a move to Juventus and Chelsea after the arrival of Nubel in June was confirmed by Die Roten.
Die Roten always made it clear that their preference is to keep Neuer at the club beyond his older deal, which was set to expire in 2021. The reports in Germany insisted that Neuer wanted a longer deal, but eventually, it turned out to be a two-year extension.

Neuer is performing at a good level, rediscovering his old form after persistent injury issues in the last few seasons. The German goalkeeper remains hungry to win more silverware with Rekordmeister. His hunger has translated into performances this year.
Moreover, Neuer will be a perfect mentor for Nubel. The latter’s representative had confirmed that Die Roten had offered the best package, so he will surely get some sort of playing time next season. Training with Neuer will give Nubel time to adapt to his new club and continue to grow without having the complete spotlight on him.
Top teams always have healthy competition throughout the squad. Barcelona found themselves in a similar position when Claudio Bravo and Marc-Andre ter Stegen were at the club. The Spanish club allowed Bravo, the experienced keeper, to get more game time in two seasons and then, eventually made Ter Stegen the first choice option. Die Roten is likely to think along those lines when they will be managing playing time of Nubel and Neuer in the next two seasons.
By handing a short term deal to Neuer, Die Roten has squashed the unnecessary speculation surrounding their star player. All parties are happy, including fans, as they wanted their captain to stay at the club, while Neuer is also thrilled to stay at a club that is home to him. Most importantly, Die Roten will be the biggest winners, as their long term and medium vision of the squad is shaping up nicely.
