Ajax defender Sergino Dest is reportedly back on the transfer agenda of Bayern Munich.

The European clubs are yet to get any clarity about the summer transfer window. As soon as there is a solution for top leagues for the conclusion of the 2019/20 season, FIFA  may issue guidelines for the transfer window. Nevertheless, Bayern Munich has a clear idea about the areas of the squad where they need to improve.

Along with improving attack, Die Roten is reportedly keen on improving the defense. The defending German champions want a new right-back since Joshua Kimmich has permanently moved in midfield. Moreover, the German club is unlikely to pursue the permanent signing of Alvaro Odriozola from Real Madrid.

Earlier this year, Ajax defender Sergino Dest was linked with a move to Bavaria. According to Sky Sports, Rekordmeister is once again closely monitoring the situation of the right-back after a failed bid in the January transfer window.

This report also insists that Dest is also interested in moving to Germany and play for Die Roten and the Dutch club will be ready to open talks with the German club. Dest has been previously confirmed interest from the German Champions.

More from Bayern Strikes

Dest has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with the senior team at Ajax. Across all competitions, he has made 36 appearances and contributed to eight goals. The teenage defender can operate as right-back or wingback depending on the systems. His pace and trickery in the final third make him a potent player in both phases of the game. Benjamin Pavard prefers playing in central defense, so Dest will not have to worry about playing time at Die Roten if this move is completed.

Rekordmeister reportedly had a €20 million offer rejected in January. The German club could get him for the same fee due to the financial impacts of coronavirus pandemic on the transfer market. If the interest in Dest is concrete, then this deal could be straightforward to complete, unlike the Leroy Sane transfer from Manchester City.

With the signing of Dest, Die Roten will have two or more options for every position in defense. This transfer will complete the rebuilding of the defense, laying down a strong foundation at the back that can help Rekordmeister to enjoy sustained success.
