Sven Ulreich should be looking for a move away from Bayern Munich as the Bundesliga club shows interest in the German goalkeeper.

Bayern Munich has learned from their past mistakes of delaying the overhaul of the squad. The club is not waiting for veterans to enter the twilight of their careers. Signing adequate replacements at the right time allows the squad to have a comfortable transition period.

Die Roten went ahead with the plan to sign Alexander Nubel despite having Manuel Neuer at the club. The young German shot-stopper is expected to arrive at the club in July when his contract with Schalke expires.

Hansi Flick confirmed last week that Neuer would be the first choice option next season. He insisted that Nubel will have to fight with Sven Ulreich for the number two position. However, it is highly unlikely that Nubel joined the club without getting assurances of being deputy to Neuer next season.

In such a scenario, Ulreich should be looking to find a new club in summer. A goalkeeper of his quality doesn’t deserve to be the third choice option at Die Roten. He will be better served by playing football at another club next season.

More from Bayern Strikes

According to SportBild (via GGFN), Hertha Berlin is eager to sign Ulreich from Bayern in summer. The German goalkeeper will be reunited with his former manager- Bruno Labbadia, if this move does eventually takes place in summer.

Ulreich has been understudy to Neuer since moving to Bavaria in 2015. Neuer did suffer serious injuries after Pep Guardiola‘s departure, keeping him out for long periods. Ulreich had filled in for Neuer pretty well, delivering crucial performances that helped the club to win trophies during the 2017/18 season.

There were few lows for Ulreich while replacing Neuer, but overall he did a commendable job to fill the void. Die Roten had rewarded his performances with a new deal. His current contract is set to expire in 2021, which may force the club to listen to offers in summer.

Ulriech still has a lot to offer, many years of his peak are ahead of him, so it will be harsh to spend that time on the bench, playing next to no games. Moreover, Flick has shown that he hardly rotates goalkeeper, so Ulreich getting chance as a third-choice goalkeeper looks remote. It is the right time for him to consider a change of scenery and get playing time that a goalkeeper of his caliber deserves.
