Ahead of the summer transfer window, Bayern Munich reportedly had an offer rejected for Lyon defender Piere Kalulu.
Bayern Munich is set to be busy in the transfer market, whenever the window opens in summer. The German club is expected to improve their first team and reserves team in summer. They have adopted an aggressive approach in the recruitment process at the youth level.
According to RMC, Die Roten had an offer rejected for Lyon’s young right-back Piere Kalulu. This report insists that the player rejected the offer as Rekordmeister plan to use him in the reserves team next season. Sevilla and AC Milan are the other European clubs to make an offer for Kalulu. T
The French outlet also reports that Die Roten are thinking about making a second bid for the player. Kalulu’s contract at Lyon is set to expire in summer, allowing interested clubs a chance to get him for a meagre fee.
Kalulu has featured for Lyon’s U19 team this season. He represented the French team in the UEFA youth league. He operates in the right-back position. In 16 games for the youth team this season, Kalulu has managed to provide three assists. (Stats courtesy: Transfermarkt)

Die Roten will come up with a better plan to convince Kalulu’s entourage since the young defender wants to play in the first team. The German club does need a right-back in the first-team squad next season. Joshua Kimmich is settled in the midfield while Benjamin Pavard prefers playing in central defense.
Kalulu will have to act as a backup full-back in the first team if Die Roten decides to rely on him on filling the right-back position. Pavard will have to play more often in the right-back next season, and then eventually Kalulu makes that position his own. If Rekordmeister can come up with such a plan, then they can surely beat other clubs for the teenager’s signature.
Die Roten has been smart with recruiting some of the best talents at the youth level. They recently completed the signing of Armindo Sieb from Hoffenheim. This approach will help the first team in the long run if these promising young players are properly integrated into the first team.
Alphonso Davies has been a big success this season for first-team, rewarding the club’s persistence of signing the best young talents from different parts of the globe. Kalulu could go to make a similar impact if the move is completed in summer.
