Box to box midfielder
Along with a holding midfielder, Flick uses a dynamic box to box midfielder that can link attack and midfield. Thiago has been the key man for Die Roten in this role after the winter break. He is finally getting an extended run in this role for Bayern after a long time.
The Spaniard can evade the press through his dribbling. His first touch is gold, while he has the balance of a ballerina. Thiago can split a defense with his precise passing. Since he is getting more freedom to move forward now, the Spanish midfielder is also becoming a goal threat from the midfield.

Meanwhile, Goretzka is a more robust midfielder, who can provide a physical presence in the midfield. The German international had done well in this role during Hinrunde.
