Sarpreet Singh
Die Roten moved quickly last summer to complete the signing of Sarpreet Singh from Wellington Phoenix. Singh had already played for New Zealand’s senior team and impressed in the domestic league. His performances at the U-20 World Cup eventually sealed a big move to Bayern.
Singh was part of the senior team during the pre-season tour. He also got decent playing time during pre-season friendlies. Niko Kovac had heaped praise on Singh and backed him to feature regularly in the senior team in a few years.
The 21-year-old midfielder made his senior debut under Hansi Flick in December. He has occasionally trained with the first team. Singh has contributed to 14 goals in 20 appearances for the reserves team while operating in the attacking midfield position. He can also play on either flank. (Stats courtesy: Transfermarkt)
Die Roten currently have Thomas Muller and Leon Goretzka as the options for number ten role next season. Kai Havertz has been heavily linked with a move to Bavaria, but the transfer fee may force Bayern to come back for him next season.
Singh can fill in the number ten role if needed and provide a good option for Flick from the bench. Flick has already shown faith in him this season, so it will not be a big surprise to see Singh being a regular part of the squad next season. The 21-year-old midfielder has the talent to make this leap from the reserves team to the senior team.
