Bayern Munich transfer target Kai Havertz opens up about a possible transfer away from Bayer Leverkusen in summer.

Since football has come to a standstill, there have been loads of transfer rumours in circulation across Europe. Bayern Munich have been linked with numerous players till now as the club looks to improve their attacking options in summer.

Kai Havertz is one of the few players that have been constantly linked with a move to Bavaria in the past 12 months. Bayer Leverkusen were resigned to losing him in the summer transfer window before coronavirus pandemic hit Europe.

The transfer window is likely to be severely affected due to the pandemic, so it remains to be seen whether Leverkusen will listen to offers for Havertz. The German international is reportedly eager to move to Bavaria whenever the summer transfer window opens.

Havertz finally addressed his future plans on Wednesday. Speaking to SportBild, the 20-year-old forward admitted that he is ready to make the giant leap in his career. The German forward is keeping all options open by refusing to rule out a move away from Germany.

"“I often wonder what others seem to know about me.”“I am ready to take a big step and I like challenges. For me, this also includes abroad.”"

More from Bayern Strikes

This is a big indication from the player about wanting a big move in summer. Havertz was also linked with a move to Die Roten last summer, but the player dismissed rumours and admitted that he wants to stay at Leverkusen for at least one more season.

Havertz’s wish of leaving Leverkusen in summer may change the summer plans of Bayern. The defending Bundesliga champions had been chasing the signature of Leroy Sane since last summer. Sane’s agent has confirmed Rekordmeister’s interest, and also insisted that the German winger would like to move to Bavaria in summer.

Bayern will have to balance the books if they want to sign both Havertz and Sane. The German club cannot afford to miss out on Havertz. They missed out on Sane in 2016, which still haunts them. Havertz moving to another European rival, may haunt Die Roten a few years later, as the 20-year-old midfielder is destined to become a top player.

Die Roten has also been linked with Timo Werner, but that move looks unlikely at this stage. The club hierarchy and Hansi Flick will have a big decision to make about German players they decide to sign this summer. Havertz and Sane are set to be available in summer, so it is going to be a test of Bayern’s negotiation abilities to get top players at fairly decent transfer fees.
