Bayern Munich yet to make a decision on Ivan Perisic
Ahead of the summer transfer window, Bayern Munich is yet to decide on the future of Ivan Perisic.
The football has come to a standstill due to coronavirus pandemic. Bayern Munich has seen their momentum halted in various competitions as they were motoring along, swatting aside every opponent coming in their way.
Die Roten resumed training sessions at Sabner Strasse last week. The club will be looking to start thinking about the future as there is still uncertainty about when competitive football will be back. Rekordmeister will have to make some decisions before the end of next month regarding their squad planning.
Ivan Perisic is one of the two players that need their future to be sorted before the end of May. The Croatian winger arrived at the club on a one-year loan deal from Inter Milan in August last year. Die Roten had the option to make the deal permanent at the end of the 2019/20 campaign.
There were reports in Germany suggesting that Rekordmeister is eager to take up the option to sign Perisic permanently. Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sempreinter), Karl-Heinz Rummenigge gave an update on the situation and how much time the club has to make a final decision.
"“We haven’t talked about it yet, we have a clause to consider, I believe, until the end of May.”"

The comments from Rummenigge come on the back of reports in Italy suggesting that two clubs are close to reaching an agreement over the transfer fee. According to Corriere dello Sport (via Sempreinter), Die Roten is likely to play in between 15-20 million to sign Perisic from Inter at the end of the current campaign.
Perisic was not Rekordmeister’s first choice player to improve the attacking department last summer. The club had to abandon a move for Manchester City winger Leroy Sane at the last moment as the German winger suffered a serious injury. Die Roten went ahead with bringing Philippe Coutinho and Perisic on loan deals in the final few weeks of the transfer window.
The former Borussia Dortmund winger has shown the glimpses of his quality in patches this season. Perisic has been inconsistent, but his work rate has been top class in every game he played. He was finding a good consistency in his performances after the winter break, but unfortunately suffered a serious injury that kept him out of action since February.
At that price and amount of experience Perisic will bring to the squad, it looks like a no brainer for Die Roten to sign him permanently. As long as he remains a squad option, there are no downsides to this transfer.
