Giovane Elber

There have been many lethal forwards that have been successful while donning the famous Bayern shirt. Giovane Elber is one of these forwards. Elber did move to Bavaria at the end of the last century, but his influence at Bayern was equally important at the start of the 21st century,

Elber’s impressive spell at VfB Stuttgart grabbed the attention of Die Roten. The two clubs reached an agreement for the transfer in 1997. The Brazilian striker hit the ground running for the Bavarians as he ended his first campaign with 11 goals and nine assists.

Bayern enjoyed a great spell in domestic competitions due to Elber’s consistency in the final third. During his time at the club, Elber collected four Bundesliga champions medals and three DFB Pokal medals. The German club fell short at the final hurdle of the Champions League in 1998/99 but came back strong in 2000/01 to win the title.

Elber managed to hit 20 goals almost every season in the Bavarian shirt. He moved to Olympique Lyon in 2003, ending his Bavarian career with 140 goals and 57 assists in 266 appearances across all competitions. Elber is currently Bayern’s club ambassador, representing the club off the pitch after enjoying a stellar career on it.
