Bayern Munich is reportedly interested in signing a striker who has been in blistering form this season.

The upcoming summer will see Bayern Munich improving their attacking department. Die Roten is looking to complete the second phase of the rebuild of the squad after signing much needed young and top-class defenders last year.

Rekordmeister reportedly want to add more quality on the flanks. Serge Gnabry has done well this season, but the German club still needs at least one more winger to compensate for last summer’s departures of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery.

Apart from a winger, there have always been questions surrounding Die Roten, whether they need to sign a backup striker for Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker has been outstanding for the defending Bundesliga champions this season, but a backup striker will help in managing his workload.

Die Roten may have to look for a young striker that is ready to share playing time with the Polish striker. Alexander Sorloth may be the forward Die Roten want for this role. According to Foot Mercato, Bayern Munich is one of the clubs closely tracking the progress of Trabzonspor striker Alexander Sorloth.

More from Bayern Strikes

Sorloth is currently on loan at Trabzonspor from Everton. As per HITC, the Turkish side has the option to sign him permanently in summer for £6 million. The Norwegian striker has been in tremendous form for Trabzonspor, so his permanent signing looks a formality as of now.

The 24-year-old forward struggled to make an impact in the Premier League. He regained his confidence in the Turkish league, scoring 23 goals across all competitions. Sorloth has also shown creativity in the final third as he also has eight assists to his name. Erling Braut Haaland may have been the most in-form Norwegian striker in Europe this season, but Sorloth has also done fairly well for club and country.

Lewandowski is showing no signs of slowing down. The Polish striker is eager to play at the top level for four more years. He is managing his fitness, but Die Roten will also have to play their part by giving him an ample amount of rest throughout a campaign.

Sorloth will fit this profile, but it remains to be seen whether he will be happy with a reduced role. Speaking to TV2 (via TZ), the Norwegian striker expressed gratitude after being linked with Bayern. However, he is not in favour of going against Trabzonspor if a deal cannot be agreed between clubs in summer. A backup striker is not a pressing need for Die Roten, but it will surely help in improving the quality of the squad.
