Kingsley Coman opens up about the best manager he has worked with at Bayern Munich.
Bayern Munich players continued to train throughout this week in small groups as DFL plans to resume Bundesliga in the first or second week of May. This may be wishful thinking as other top leagues in Europe are unlikely to resume anytime soon.
Many Die Roten players have been doing media duties this week. On the back of signing a new deal this week, Thomas Muller held a virtual press conference on Thursday. Kingsley Coman also had a long interview with Eurosport this week.
The French winger once again stressed on the fact about how he has matured from the injury struggles in the past few seasons. Coman is eager to win numerous titles with Rekordmeister but doesn’t know where he will be playing five years down the line.
Coman told Eurosport that Pep Guardiola is the best coach he has played at Bayern and in his career. The former Juventus winger insisted that the Spanish coach gave him complete freedom to express himself on the pitch.
"“I would say, Guardiola. Because he is the one who made me start playing a little more regularly even if I had played a few matches at Juve.”“He creates systems to have one-on-one situations and it’s the system where I can flourish the most. He didn’t ask me to have stats. He just asked me to take, hit and center. And that was what I appreciated very much.”"

Guardiola was the manager who brought Coman to Bavaria in 2015. The French winger joined the club from Juventus on a loan deal and flourished under Guardiola in his debut season. Since the Spanish manager’s departure in 2016, it has been testing time for Coman due to numerous injuries.
Die Roten still showed immense faith in Coman during the injury struggles. The club took up the option of signing him permanently from Juventus. They also handed him a new deal a few months later to secure his long term future. However, Coman is yet to completely repay the faith shown by the club. His dribbling helps the team to stretch defenses, but his numbers in the final third are not up to the mark.
At the start of the season, Coman admitted that he is happy to take over more responsibility in the squad as Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery left the club. However, another injury halted his season, and his performances have been inconsistent.
The French winger is now at a crucial juncture in his career and needs to achieve consistency in his performances. Die Roten are likely to improve their attacking options in summer, so Coman will no longer be a certainty in the starting XI. Competition for places may help Coman to become a much more effective player next season.
